A protective dielectric coating is usually applied on top of the bare metal in order to improve the scratch resistance and environmental durability of the bare metal coating. In addition, a multi-layer dielectric stack can be applied in order to increase the reflection over a narrow wavelength region as the design shows in this graph. |
